Olympic Graphic Arts Exhibition 00

The second exhibition by the Alvarado Gallery took place in August 2012 to coincide with the Olympic Games in London. The initial brief was to create artwork for a show 'celebrating Olympics past and present'. The concept is based on the Olympic podium - a structure used across all sports be they track or field. The three colours are used to represent different eras of history and of the Games. The pistachio green refers to the late 19th-early 20th Century period when the modern Olympics began. The orangey red represents the 1960s-70s 'vintage' era and the fresh aqua blue denotes the current age of Olympics, post-2000.
