A new brand and website for manifesto, a digital experience agency creating award-winning digital experiences, products and services that are measurably ethical, inclusive, accessible, sustainable and joyful.
Challenge
In 2024, TPXimpact’s Digital Experience division became manifesto – with a small ‘m’ and a big ambition. The agency sets a challenge to the digital industry to do things differently, and to create safe, ethical and valuable digital experiences that work for all and do no harm.
As design lead, I worked as part of a core team of designers, strategists and developers to create a visual language and website to match manifesto’s bold vision and commitments to people, planet and society.
Approach
Every element of the brand expression, from the colour palette to typography aligns with manifesto’s manifesto. These commitments also informed the website design direction, with both design and technical decisions considering environmental impact.
Digital sustainability is a big deal, with the digital industry responsible for around 4% of global emissions; more than the aviation industry. Every time a user opens a page, they download all of its content, so we made the decision to avoid use of rich media unless necessary, reducing the weight of pages and the site overall. Where images are needed, we’ve used the lightweight, compressed AVIF format with lazy loading. These considerations and more resulted in the manifesto website ranking top for digital agencies based on website carbon emissions and how eco-friendly they are, scored by Ecoping.
